W7YAM-10 VHF RMS Dual Mode Gateway Now Has a UHF Dual Mode Partner

The new UHF W7YAM-10 RMS Dual Mode Gateway now supports both 1200 baud Packet and Wide Mode VARA FM.

In the process of rebuilding the defunct W7YAM-12 UHF RMS Packet Gateway, it was determined that having two gateways at the same location but on different bands didn't need to have a separate SSID. Specially when they share the same antenna via a duplexer and the computers and radios are stacked one above the other in the rack. So now the Winlink RMS Map will just show the W7YAM-10 marker, but will now show a tab for 2 meters or 70 centimeters similar to multifrequency HF RMS Gateways. The VHF frequency for W7YAM-10 is 144.960. The UHF frequency for W7YAM-10 is 441.050.

Historically the W7YAM-12 UHF Packet Gateway had little usage. So now both the VARA FM Software TNC and the UZ7HO's SoundModem software Packet TNC are configured to also be used as Digipeaters for P2P traffic on the gateway frequencies. The digipeaters are known as W7YAM-6. and support VHF VARA FM, UHF VARA FM, and UHF Packet.
